Logan Square Bungalow Renovation

A design-build project that brought balance & cohesion to the kitchen, living room, dining area, and powder bathroom.

This long-term, repeat client brought us into their Logan Square to make the entire first floor work better as a cohesive living space. The project included a redesigned kitchen, updated living room and fireplace surround, new built-in storage, a dedicated dining nook, a refreshed entryway, and a moody powder bathroom.

Custom cabinetry, durable materials, and thoughtful layout decisions create a first floor that maximizes space and feels organized, comfortable, and optimized for everyday living.

Project Overview

Location: Logan Square, Chicago
Project Type: First floor interior renovation
Scope: Interior design, space planning, custom cabinetry and millwork design, finish selections, renovation, and furnishing.

Key improvements included:

  • A redesigned kitchen with expanded cabinetry and improved workflow
  • A custom pantry wall with integrated storage and built-in seating
  • A dedicated breakfast nook for everyday meals
  • Updated living room furnishings and layout to better connect with the kitchen and dining spaces
  • A refreshed powder bathroom with custom millwork and updated finishes
  • A cohesive material palette carried throughout the first floor

A Kitchen Design That Created a Dinette and Extra Storage

The kitchen was redesigned to improve the asthetics, along with increasing usable space, including more seating. Custom cabinetry lines the walls, increasing storage while maintaining a clean, consistent look. Cabinet configurations were planned to accommodate everyday kitchen items while keeping countertops clear and functional.

Designed as a combination of cabinetry and millwork, the new built-in section of the kitchen offers deep vertical storage suited for dry goods, small appliances, and kitchen essentials. A round dining table provides casual seating options while maintaining open circulation.

Quartz countertops provide a durable surface for cooking and food preparation while keeping the space bright and easy to maintain.

The layout establishes clear zones for preparation, cooking, and storage, allowing the kitchen to function comfortably for both daily use and entertaining.

Dining Room Design Featuring Custom Built-In Cabinetry

A space that felt empty and basic prior was transformed into an elegent dining area with a showstopping chandellier above a natural wood dining table.

On the opposite wall, custom built-in cabinetry fills previously empty space with additional storage, display opportunities, as well as gives the space a more custom feel.

Bright, Airy Living Rooms, Anchored by a New Fireplace Mantel

The living room was updated to better connect with the newly renovated kitchen and dining spaces while maintaining a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. A neutral palette anchors the room, with layered textures—wood tones, woven materials, and soft upholstery—creating warmth and visual depth.

Furnishings were arranged to support conversation and everyday use while preserving clear circulation through the first floor.

Moody Powder Bathroom with a Geometric Mirror

The powder bathroom was refreshed as part of the broader first floor renovation.

Stunning textured wallpaper lines the walls, while updated fixtures and lighting provide a moody, rich feel to the small space.

Materials and Finishes

A cohesive palette was carried throughout the first floor to unify the kitchen, dining, living, and powder bathroom spaces.

Key materials include:

  • Painted custom cabinetry and millwork
  • Quartz kitchen countertops
  • Light wood flooring throughout the main living areas
  • Layered lighting across kitchen, dining, and living spaces
  • Durable finishes selected for everyday use
