This interior design, remodel, and furnishings project on Chicago’s North Shore in Winnetka was a lot of fun. Working within the home’s traditional architecture, the design team introduced refined modern elements through curated finishes, architectural detailing, and durable fabric furnishings. We guided the residential project from concept through final installation, creating a cohesive, move-in-ready home tailored to everyday living.
Thoughtful Design with an Emphasis on the Home’s Architecture
The existing architecture offered strong foundational character, including detailed millwork and a substantial central fireplace. Rather than compete with those elements, we leaned into them.
A color-drenched approach in the living room enhanced depth and allowed the fireplace to become a deliberate focal point. Floor-to-ceiling drapery emphasized the curve of the turret architecture, introducing vertical drama while softening structural lines.
Throughout the home, layered textures, sculptural lighting, and tailored furnishings balanced contemporary comfort with the home’s classic Winnetka setting. The result is an interior that feels both elevated and grounded—modern in execution, timeless in composition.
Scope of the Design-Remodel Project
While the structural changes were limited, the transformation was significant. Scope included interior paint, lighting upgrades throughout the home, custom millwork enhancements, floor refinishing, and full furnishings installation. Each decision was made collaboratively with the client, within a comprehensive design plan developed before construction began.
As with all of our home remodel projects in Winnetka (and beyond), we coordinated closely with contractors during execution, ensuring design intent remained intact through completion. Having finalized each element earlier in the process, installation was deliberate, highly coordinated, and therefore seemless. Every detail was placed with intention, resulting in a cohesive North Shore residence ready for daily life.
